OTC Tools is traveling the county showing and telling all about the next generation in OBD-II diagnostics, the new PEGISYS™. Their campaign staff is as excited as we are about the industries first “at the fender“ on board diagnostics that will allow the mechanic to free himself from the restraints of cables, becoming more efficient in testing. What has not been answered is whether OTC Tools will make the same mistake as they made with the predecessor Genisys™ - loss of identity . The Genisys™ was private labeled for Tool companies and numerous Auto parts companies under so many different part numbers that the mechanic was confused. Each company’s personal part number had a wide variety of omissions or additions to satisfy their own tastes yet it left the mechanic with a different taste each time. It appears that the OTC3825 Pegisys™ has all the right ingredients for the perfect onboard diagnostic cake. Only time will tell if they strip the Pegisys™ of its identity, rendering it Worth Less.

Pegisys™ the New age scan tool gives the mechanics tools to gather information “At the Fender™“. In addition to the AirBridge™ wireless connectivity, the mechanic will be able to scan outside of the vehicle from up to 30-feet away. The Pegisys™ Vehicle Communications Interface, VCI , links wirelessly to the host device. This wireless link provides the mechanic with the tools to work free of the typical volumes of leads which could tie him in knots while doing the Onboard diagnostics test. The VCI has dependable 802.11b/g WiFi technology for easy access to Web repair resourses. As technology changes, and it will, AirBridge™ connectivity will allow field updates to the latest and fastest wireless communications. Pegisys’s™ new scan tool with AirBridge™ wireless technology will also support WiFi connectivity to the internet. The OTC3825 is expected to arrive at Mechanics Tool Supply real soon….

For quite some time Genisys by OTC Tools has been the mechanics tool choice for onboard diagnostics scan tools. NEWS Flash! The Pegisys™ is coming to town. Genisys has been a very popular choice in auto scan tools for many years, but now Pegisys™ is positioning itself to be OTC’s future generation of automotive diagnostic scan tools. Genisys is still an excellent scan tool and will continue to be very popular due to the much lower cost. OTC Tools has the Nemisys, the Genisys and now the Pegisys™. This new sister named the Pegisys™ has AirBridge™ technology which allows wireless communication with the vehicle and the Internet. The freedom of the wireless capability allows the mechanic to move around the vehicle when performing diagnostic tests. Mechanics scan tools normally have an interface cable that keeps the mechanic in the seat or requires the cable to be draped through the door or window to reach the engine compartment.
Pegisys™ comes complete with a touch screen. In addition to being able to use the scroll to change frames when using the scan tool, the Pegisys™ allows the user to make selections right on the touch screen. With the visuals and a screen like video games, what better way for a mechanic to find the application he wants than to just touch the image on the screen!
OTC 3825 equipped with a scope. Sometimes when testing a particular component on a car, a scope is needed to see the wave patterns to help detect momentary glitches.
Updates through the Internet. The Pegisys™ comes with a one year subscription that starts when the tool is registered for warranty on the Pegisys™ website. It comes with USA Domestic and Asian software and even has OBD I and OBD II cables included. Optional software enables the Pegisys™ to be used on European vehicles and Heavy duty truck applications.
OTC Tools also produces OE specific diagnostic scan tools like the Tech 2 Scan tool for Chevrolet. While the Tech 2 has programming/flashing capability it is limited to GM. The key to the Pegisys™ scan tool is that it has the capability to access many different manufacturers systems. The Pegisys™ provides over 27 years of vehicle coverage 1980-3007 for 44 different vehicle makes from over 25 manufacturers.
Bottom Line? Pegisys™ unleashes your potential to work smarter and faster at the fender, that’s good for the mechanic and good for the shop. Coming soon to mechanics tool supply.
